In our new issue of spielbox, we tested a total of 29 games - including exciting titles such as Tea Garden, Cities, Andromeda's Edge, Chrystalla and the new Azul - Duel. In addition to in-depth reviews, we also take a look at the growth of SPIEL in Essen. A special highlight was our visit to The Mico, whose unique illustrations never fail to impress. We also followed in the footsteps of “Campus Galli” in the Middle Ages between Lake Constance and the Swabian Alb. And there is a small new feature: from now on, at least two new two-person games will be presented in each issue (there is also a logo so that you can recognize them immediately).

The change at the top of spielbox has been almost inconspicuous. Stefan Ducksch (editor-in-chief) and Stephan Zerlik (layout) have given their all to ensure that readers are satisfied (please send feedback to redaktion@spielbox.de). We at the publishing house certainly are!
The visit to HABA was exciting, the employees are very confident and so we all look to the future with hope. Harald Schrapers met with the author of the As d'Or winner Yohan Goh at the Festival International des Jeux in Cannes and spielbox has already met with the founder of Salt & Pepper Games in Essen.

Welcome to the first issue of spielbox in 2025! You can expect exciting content in this issue, such as a new system for board and video games (Teburu), an interview with Klaus Ottmaier from Pegasuspiele and a portrait of Biberstein Spiele.
We were in Nuremberg at the toy fair and have picked out a few games for you for the fair report.
And last but not least, this issue includes new cards for 2 games: ‘The Bee’ for Harmonies and 5 new research cards for Civolution. In the latest spielbox podcast, the two hosts talked about Civolution and SETI and you can read more about them in the magazine.

And Sybille and Bruce Whitehill have a long conversation in Japan with the Japanese publisher Saashi & Saashi. Endeavor - The Deep Sea, Kathmandu, Media Aetas and Time Trouble are some of the games reviewed in this issue. And, of course, there is also the annual index.

The fact that State Secretary Michael Kellner from the Ministry of Economic Affairs visited SPIEL is a great sign; however, the fact that he played ‘MÄDN’ of all games is something that should not have happened at this trade fair. This is shown by the number of reviews in this post-fair issue: 3 Chapters, Astrobienen, Bomb Busters, Boreal, Catan Energien, Clans and Glory, Die Blumenstraße, Die drei Kolosse, Dune Imperium - Uprising, Dungeon Designer, Faraway, Flowers, Lucky, Murdio Islan, Nekojima, Souvenirs aus Venedig, The Next Monstar, Tower Up.
Christwart Conrad ‘truffled’ through the halls of SPIEL and picked up a few things along the way. Benjamin Teuber tells us a little about how he came to invent games, about the new Catan - Energy, and how Catan GmbH is continuing after the death of his father. In the ‘Game elements of modern times’ section, this time it's all about games with price erosion (in the game)...

Dass Staatssekretär Michael Kellner aus dem Wirtschaftsministerium die SPIEL besucht hat, ist ein tolles Zeichen; dass er allerdings ausgerechnet „MÄDN“ gespielt hat, ist etwas, das auf dieser Messe nicht hätte passieren sollen.
